Brazil: Large protest against election frontrunner Bolsonaro

Protesters took to the streets of Sao Paulo in their thousands on Thursday to demonstrate against the far-right presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro, who won a convincing victory in the first round of the presidential elections on October 7. Demonstrators brought home-made banners and anti-fascist chants to Sao Paulo's Paulista Avenue, one of the city's most important streets and a frequent... Еще venue for rallies and protests. One protester said that the protests were because «Bolsonaro wants to take all labour rights, is prejudiced, racist and wants to arm the population against each other.» Bolsonaro won 46 percent of the vote in the first round, with Fernando Haddad of the leftist Workers' Party (PT) coming second with 30 percent. The two will face off again in the second round of the election on October 28.
