Brazil: Hundreds hit Sao Paulo streets against increased public transport fares

Hundreds of people hit the streets of Sao Paulo on Tuesday, against the increased public transport fares. The rally was reportedly organised by the Free Fare Movement, which advocates for the adoption of free public transportation for all. Since January 1, the bus, subway and train fares have increased by ten centavos in the city, from R$4.30 ($1.06/€0.95) to R$4.40 ($1.08/ €0.97). «The year... Еще has barely begun, and the government has already increased the transport fares by 10 centavos. Each year, the government continues to raise [the prices for] bus tickets,» said Marina, one of the protesters.
