A total of 881 people were confirmed to have died with the novel coronavirus in Brazil on Wednesday, making it the highest death toll of cases recorded in a single day in the country since the outbreak began.
Talking to the media outside Hospital Souza Aguiar in Rio de Janeiro, nurse Fernando Gomez shared his insight on the current situation and said the real figure might be higher.
«For what... Еще we see on a daily basis there is way more than what they say. Our colleagues are getting sick, 80 percent of my coworkers already got infected with COVID-19,” said Gomez.
«I feel threatened because here in Brazil we have no access to testing, and institutions don't help us, I think there are only two places here in Rio where you can get the test. Even with all the symptoms, here at our workplace they don't give us the test, so many people have the disease and infect others,” he added.
Brazil, which is considered to be the new epicentre of the epidemic in South America, has recorded over 189,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began and more than 13,00 fatalities related to the virus thus far, according to John Hopkins University.
