Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan paid his respects to the victims of the 1995 Srebrenica massacre during a ceremony in Sarajevo on Tuesday, the second day of his official visit to the country.
A truck carrying the remains of 33 newly-identified victims made its way through the streets of the capital, with the Turkish President and First Lady Emine Erdogan placing flowers on the vehicle in... Еще their memory. The remains will be laid to rest in the village of Potocari, northwest of Srebrenica.
President Erdogan then greeted local residents before entering his vehicle and driving away. Erdogan was in the country to attend the South East European Countries Cooperation Process (SEECP) Summit on Monday.
Over 8,000 Bosniak men and boys were murdered and thousands of women and girls were sexually assaulted and tortured when units of the Bosnian Serb Army of Republika Srpska overran the UN ‘safe area’ of Srebrenica in July 1995.
