Thousands of volunteers and military personnel continue to screen residents door-to-door in Santa Cruz de la Sierra in an effort to combat the epidemic of coronavirus affecting the region. The operation, which began on Saturday is expected to last 14 days, has identified more than 20,000 suspected cases of COVID-19 so far, according to official sources.
«The data is entered into the application, which has been created for a follow-up, in 24 or 48 hours, by a medical team,» explained Jovi Joe Semper, a volunteer taking part in the project.
Footage from Tuesday show team members speaking with neighbours and handing out medical equipment.
Bolivia has recorded more than 26,000 confirmed cases of the disease since the outbreak began, with 846 people having died with the disease according to John Hopkins University.
