Bolivia Morales protesters surge streets on 2nd referendum anniversary

People thronged the streets of La Paz on Wednesday to express opposition to Bolivian President Evo Morales on the two year anniversary of the failed referendum proposing to remove presidential term limits. Police officers attempted to disperse protesters with tear gas who went on a sit-down strike and later set on fire effigy of the former Defence Minister José Carlos Sanchez Berzain. One... Еще protester Ingrid said, «The president said he would respect democracy but apparently he is not doing anything for our beloved Bolivia.» Counter-protests in support of the president also took place in La Paz and Santa Clara. Evo Morales has been in power since 2006 and is the first President of indigenous background.
