Speaking on the sidelines of the EU summit in Brussels, Friday, German chancellor Angela Merkel announced that the EU countries agreed on the extension of anti-Russian sanctions as there was no «sufficient progress» made to allow lifting them. Merkel also mentioned Brexit, saying that «Theresa May has made a good offer to the EU,» adding that the EU hopes «to see some long overdue progress on this issue» tomorrow. She admitted that migration issues revealed different approaches among the EU members, «solidarity cannot simply come from outside but also internally so we still have a lot of work to do,» stressed Merkel.
