Belgium: Puigdemont demands release of arrested Catalan leaders

Former Catalan President Carles Puigdemont demanded the release of the arrested Catalan leaders and an «end of political repression,» during a statement delivered in Brussels, Thursday. Referring to himself as a «legitimate» president he called for the release «of the councilors and the vice president.» He stressed that the Spanish state's «fury» is «threatening everything» and warned Catalans... Еще that there will be a «long and fierce repression.» He stated that Catalans should stand up against it «without violence, in peace and with respect for all opinions and people.» A European arrest warrant has also been issued against Puigdemont. Spain has been involved in a constitutional crisis ever since a referendum on Catalan independence on 1 October.
