Belgium: Pompeo names Russia, China, Iran and terrorism chief NATO threats

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo held a press briefing after the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) ministerial meeting finished at its headquarters in Brussels on Wednesday. Speaking on threats faced by the Alliance, Pompeo named Russia, China and Iran, which the Secretary called 'authoritarian regimes', and continued the list with radical Islamic extremism and cyber threats. Pompeo... Еще praised the commitment of NATO allies for expanding the NATO budget to the tune of $100 billion (‎€90.385 million) by the end of 2020. When questioned about the testimony of US ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland in the ongoing impeachment inquiry on US President Donald Trump, Pompeo refused to comment as he «didn't see the testimony» and instead expressed support for President Donald Trump's policy «I'm proud that (US) President (Donald) Trump led that effort to get our policy on Ukraine right. We not only planned for it. We not only laid out a plan for it, but we executed and delivered on it. We'll continue to do that.» During the impeachment inquiry earlier on Wednesday, ambassador Sondland stated he was following the president's orders and testified there was a quid pro quo between the White House and Ukraine.
