Residents of Liege described the moment a gunman killed two police officers and a civilian in the east Belgian city on Tuesday. One passerby recalled how «We saw that there was a dispute and people running everywhere. In five minutes, the crossroads were blocked by the police. We saw the law forces arriving from everywhere. They blocked the crossroads, then after that, we heard gunshots... Еще», said one passerby. He went on to explain that the killed officers were known in the area. «The officers passed around here very often, we spoke with them regularly, so we are very shocked», he said. Another explained how his first thought was that it was a terrorist attack. «We hid, and then I discovered that what had happened is that two police officers had been killed. So I thought, ok, it's that. We were very scared, but the police did very well their job, they were very quick, so hats off for that», he said. According to reports, the assailant shot dead two police officers and a man who was sitting in a parked car, before taking a woman hostage. The attacker was then shot dead during a police operation.
