The EU’s Chief Negotiator Michel Barnier has said that the UK’s transition out of the EU should end after 31 December 2020, in a press conference from the European Commission in Brussels on Wednesday. Barnier told reporters that the transition period was not an “a la carte” option, where the UK could pick which EU polices apply. “The UK will keep all the advantages, all the benefits, and the... Еще obligations of the single market, the customs union and common policies during this transition period”, Barnier said. Barnier was outlining the next stage of talks on Britain’s future relationship with the EU, after both parties’ sides reached an agreement on the so-called divorce bill. British Prime Minister Theresa May has stated that the UK government is looking for a two-year transition period following the deadline for withdrawal on 30 March 2019.
