Belarus: US 'provocative' to North Korea — Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov condemned what he perceived to be the United States’ provocative behaviour towards North Korea and touched on issues regarding the Eastern Partnership in an exclusive interview on the Belarusian television station STV in Minsk, Saturday. Lavrov said that a range of Western countries use the 'Eastern Partnership' summit for what he described as «anti-Russian... Еще purposes», yet warned that any attempt to implant “anti-Russian fervor” into Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member countries would be futile. Speaking about the progress of the Normandy Four group, Lavrov expressed his hope «to carry on with [our] efforts, including using Minsk which continues to provide conditions for the Contact Group’s talks». He added that the talks between aids of the Normandy Four leaders would take place in the near future. The Russian diplomat commented on the latest DPRK missile test, condemning what he called the state’s nuclear missile «gambling». On November 29, North Korea conducted its first missile launch since September 15. However, Lavrov went on to also condemn the US’ behaviour towards the DPRK, describing it as «provocative». «There is a sense they intentionally provoked Kim Jong Un,» said Lavrov. «We cannot but condemn the provocative behaviour of our American colleagues.»
