Belarus: ISS expedition 54-55 holds pre-flight press conference in Minsk

Prime and backup International Space Station (ISS) crews of the expedition 54-55 held a press conference, in Star City, Thursday, following the approval of the Interagency Commission of of the State Corporation Roscosmos. The primary crew of the expedition 54-55 comprises of Roscosmos cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov, NASA astronaut Scott Tingle and JAXA astronaut Norishige Kanai, while the secondary... Еще crew includes Roscosmos cosmonaut Sergei Prokopiev, ESA astronaut Alexander Gerst and NASA Astronaut Jeanette Epps. Prime crew commander Shkaplerov noted that «in order to become a cosmonaut, one needs to work hard, not only physically but also intellectually,» adding that «we are always studying because travel to space requires [the knowledge] of the state-of-the-art technology.» Prime crew flight engineer Tingle said that he was «excited to work with the hundreds of people, thousands of people on the ground everyday as we work to make our four to six-month expedition a huge success.» The other prime crew flight engineer Kanai noted that «skills and experience from senior cosmonauts [and] astronauts [are] not just for that person or that country — it is for everybody in the world.» Launch of the expedition from the Baikonur Cosmodrome will take place on December 17.
