Beijing students create self-driving bicycle

A team of students at Tsinghua University in China have developed an auto-balancing bicycle that can ride around all by itself. Footage filmed on Monday reveals a driverless bike roaming around the grounds of the Beijing-based university. Using a steering control method, it can go forward, and turn at different speeds, providing a platform for unmanned bicycles. «Our project is about how a... Еще bicycle can keep its balance like a human. We chose the most similar method to a human, making use of centrifugal force produced by controlling the handlebar to keep balance», team leader Professor Mingguo Zhao said. The project is far more ambitious, as one of the students explains: «We will apply a GPS system to make it ride automatically according to the planned route, without human supervision.»
