Bavarian gun club set off their firearms in festive shooting tradition

Welcome to Bavaria, where people shoot flintlocks, muskets and cannons to celebrate the coming of Christmas, as images taken from Schoenau shooting club on Sunday reveal. The members of the shooting club dress in traditional outfits and fire off numerous rounds using old-fashioned pistols and small cannons called Boeller. Boellerschiessen gun salutes happen all across Bavaria and the Alpine... Еще regions of Austria and Switzerland. This bizarre tradition dates back to the invention of gunpowder in the 17th century, when locals disturbed the 'Silent Night' with the piercing sound of gunfire.
