Austria: 'There's a return of the far right' — Viennese locals react to coalition agreement

SOT, Passer-by (German): «Throughout Europe there's a return of the far right. One sees this as well in Germany, where the AfD got a lot of votes. And if one speaks about the refugee crisis, one has the impression that this could have been handled better and that the people who are fearful of this [refugee arrivals] — for whatever reason — even when there isn't a reason, they want them to be... Еще returned. And one has to make it clear that it is not bad at all, and that one should help these people.» Vienna residents shared their thoughts, on Sunday, about the coalition between the Austrian People's Party (OVP) and the Freedom Party of Austria (FPO). Viennese local Marie acknowledged the doubt she believes many have surrounding the EU. She said, I see a development of scepticism over the EU — above all, whether it actually provides economic advantages through the whole area.» On Saturday, incoming Chancellor and Austrian People's Party (OVP) leader Sebastian Kurz and Vice-Chancellor and Freedom Party of Austria (FPO) leader Heinz-Christian Strache announced the finalisation of negotiations for a new OVP-FPO coalition government.
