Austria: Russia's football team arrives at alpine training camp ahead of World Cup

Stanislav Cherchesov, Head coach of the Russian national football team (Russian): «We can't say for sure today.. We actually wanted Dzuba to train with the main group of players today [at the morning practice in Novogorsk ahead of the departure to Austria], but we decided not to risk his health as it was a bit cold and it rained, so he was training in the gym. Let's see, the sun should be out... Еще tomorrow, it will be warmer and he [Artem Dzuba] will be training outside. Nevertheless he missed three training days — this is not a good thing for us, but this kind of thing happens from time to time.» The Russian national football team arrived at Neustift im Stubaital near Austria's Innsbruck on Sunday, to continue preparations for the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup, which kicks off in Russia in June. The team was welcomed by the tourism association Stubaital and was presented a gift basket equipped with Schnapps. Starting from Monday, Russian footballers will have daily training sessions on the UEFA-standard pitch of Neustift's Alpine stadium. On May 30, Stanislav Cherchesov's squad will play a control match against Team Austria at Tivoli Noit stadium in Innsbruck. The training camp was also used by the Russian team last year, ahead of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. The matches of the 2018 World Cup will be held between June 14 and July 15 at 12 stadiums in the 11 cities across Russia.
