Austrian President Alexander van der Bellen swore in People Party leader Sebastian Kurz as the new Chancellor of Austria in Vienna's Hofburg Presidential Palace on Monday.
Earlier in the day thousands of protesters flooded the streets to decry the recently formed Austrian government coalition with the far-right Freedom Party.
In his speech, Van der Bellen stated, «I know that many people in... Еще Austria present see the new Federal Government as positive others are neutral, or are cautious and many are sceptical and in part are opposed to the new Federal Government and their intentions. I understand this in a democracy it is so that different opinions exist.»
The far-right FPO recently reached a five-year deal with the OVP (People's Party), two months after the parliamentary elections.
The coalition deal means that Austria is now the only western European nation with a far-right party in government.
