Iran's commitment to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is essential and dialogues should be put into terms with the United States, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano said during a press conference held in Vienna on Monday.
«Commitments entered into by Iran under the JCPOA represents a significant gain for nuclear verification. I... Еще therefore hope that ways can be found to reduce current tensions through dialogue. It is essential that Iran fully implement its nuclear related commitments under the JCPOA,» said Amano.
With regard to Iran's production of enriched uranium, the Director General confirmed that the country is delivering on its promise and has increased its rate of production. «I prefer not to mention a specific figure due to this fluctuation, but I can say that pace of production increased, in accordance to the latest measurement,» he added.
US President Donald Trump withdrew from the deal in 2018, re-imposing sanctions on Iran. Tehran responded in May 2019 by announcing it would partially withdraw from the deal, restarting some of its nuclear activity until European JCPOA signatories could help ease the sanctions.
The Iranian government has set a July 7 deadline for putting its partial withdrawal from the agreement into action.
