SOT, Andy Murray, Tennis player, three-time Grand Slam winner: «Yes, I think there's a chance of that for sure. There's a chance of that for sure because like I said I'm not sure I'm able to play through the pain for another four or five months.»
Australia: Tearful Andy Murray says Australian Open may be last tournament
Three-time Grand Slam winner Andy Murray was in tears as he said next... Еще week’s Australian Open could be his last tournament due to serious pain from a hip injury, during a press conference in Melbourne on Friday.
«I've pretty much done everything that I could to try and get my hip feeling better. And, you know, it hasn't helped loads, I'm in a better place than I was six months ago but still in a lot of pain. It's been tough,» Murray said.
«I said to my team 'look, I think I can kind of get through this until Wimbledon, that is where I would like to, that is where I would like to stop, stop playing. But I'm also not certain I'm able to do that,» the former world number one added before breaking down in tears.
After being asked whether the Australian Open could be his last competition, Murray answered «there's a chance of that for sure because like I said I'm not sure I'm able to play through the pain for another four or five months.»
31-year-old Murray has fought to recover from chronic hip pain for more than 18 months, having had surgery on his right hip in January last year before coming back to tennis in June.
In 2013 Murray became the first British man to win Wimbledon in 77 years.
