Australia: Suspicious packages sent to 10 consulates in Melbourne and Canberra

Footage shows forensics officers removing a suspicious package containing an unknown white substance from the US consulate in Melbourne, on Wednesday, after suspicious packages were sent to at least 10 different consulates and embassies in Melbourne and Canberra. Suspicious packages were sent to the US, UK, Swiss and Pakistan Consulates in Melbourne, some with 'asbestos' reportedly written on... Еще them. A Pakistani consulate worker is reported to have opened a suspicious package addressed to the Consulate-General of Pakistan. The South Korean, Indian and New Zealand consulates were all evacuated after receiving suspicious packages, while suspicious packages were also sent to the Spanish, Greek, Taiwanese and Turkish consulates. Unconfirmed reports suggest that an addition dozen consulates may have also been effected. On Monday, a suspicious package containing a white substance was sent to Argentina's consulate in Sydney, but was later found to be non-toxic. Mandatory Credit: JOE HINCHLIFFE / THE AGE
