Residents in Sydney were reacting to the decision to quarantine hundreds of Australian nationals in a five-star hotel in the city's commercial center on Friday.
They arrived a day earlier on a repatriation flight from Hawaii after being stranded for weeks on the Norwegian Jewel Cruise ship due to coronavirus scare.
Most of the 293 passengers and crew were taken to the Swissotel Sydney while... Еще some of them to hospitals.
Footage shows police officers guarding the entrance, while some guests and residents were filmed entering the building.
«I just think all passengers should have been tested negative before they were let off the ship,» said Cherry Luk, a local who is working in the area.
She added that the authorities should have chosen another facility «not right in the heart of the city where everyone is going to come in and out.»
Before receiving permission to fuel in the port of Pago Pago, American Samoa, and finally reaching Hawaii, the cruise ship was denied access by several ports in the South Pacific due to fears of coronavirus.
