Aerial footage published by the Rural Fire Service (RFS) shows fire and black smoke rising above the City of Blue Mountains, in New South Wales (NSW), on Sunday.
Strong winds and high temperatures continue to fuel the fire and push it towards the the Australian capital of Canberra.
The RFS says on its official website the Blue Mountains is a unique world heritage area and also «one of the most... Еще bush fire prone areas in the world.»
«People with chronic respiratory and cardiovascular conditions should avoid outdoor physical activity and those with asthma should also follow their Asthma Action Plan and carry their reliever medication with them,» NSW Health said in a statement on Sunday
At least 60 fires continue burning in New South Wales and Victoria States, according to reports. An estimated 27 people and half a billion animals have reportedly died since a record-breaking heatwave triggered the fires in Australia in September.
