Australia: Melbourne SUV incident was not 'lone wolf' attack — Victoria Police

Victoria Police Acting Commissioner Shane Patton confirmed that a sole person was in the vehicle, which ploughed into pedestrians at Melbourne's Flinders Street station on Thursday, injuring at least 14 people. Patton was speaking at a press conference following the crash, alongside the Premiere of Victoria, Daniel Andrews. Patton stated that the suspect has been detained by the Victoria police... Еще for the minor traffic violations in 2010. Speaking about a second detained person, Patton said that he was searched and «was taken to the custody to determine if he was in fact connected with the incident.» «At this state, we don't believe it to be the case, he is still to be interviewed in the relation to the matter,» underlined Patton. Andrews condemned the attack, saying «what occurred on Flinders Street this afternoon was an act of evil. And an act of cowardice. We are all deeply saddens and deeply wounded by this terrible act,» however he said that the incident was not likely to be militant related, stating «I think to describe this as a lone wolf incident isn't probably apt» and adding that they are looking into the «mental health background» of the suspect.
