The Armenian government held an extraordinary meeting in Yerevan on Monday following Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan’s resignation earlier in the day. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, who will succeed Sargsyan as the head of the government. Earlier on Monday, Sargsyan announced in a statement he was stepping down from his post. “I will resign from the post of... Еще the country’s leader, the prime minister. The street movement was against me. I will fulfill your claim,” the statement said. Protests have been ongoing in Yerevan for the past 11 days, ever since Sarsgyan was nominated to lead the government by the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).
