A mass protest, which mobilised to pressure the government into releasing the whereabouts of missing detainee Santiago Maldonado, descended into violent clashes between demonstrators and the police in Buenos Aires, Monday. Maldonado has been reported missing since going into police custody in Chubut six days ago, with many of the protesters blaming the government and the Argentine Minister of... Еще Security Patricia Bullrich in particular. After the demonstration, several protesters broke away and attacked riot police who were in attendance, burning two police motorbikes and vandalising a van in the process. Journalists also reported being attacked. Speaking to the crowds outside the Argentine National Congress, Sergio Maldonado, the missing detainee's brother, said he was praying for Santiago's safe return. «He is a person and he is missing, but I want him to appear alive today. A Rasta is not a weapon, a beard is not ammunition. That was my brother,» Maldonado said.
