Pro-life protesters from the Provida United movement celebrated the one year anniversary of the Argentinian Senate rejecting a bill that would have legalised abortion until the 14th week of gestation. The rally took place in front of the National Congress building in Buenos Aires on Thursday.
The protesters, wearing blue, were seen praying and lighting up candles placed by models of foetuses... Еще. Later during the night, they were dancing and waving flags.
«I always think that tomorrow I would be guided by my children knowing that I was fighting and making a presence, rescuing and defending life,» said Maria Ayol, one of the protesters.
Reproductive rights in Argentina are amongst the strictest in the world. Abortion is only permitted when the mother's life or health is in danger, or when the pregnancy is the result of rape.
