Thousands marched in Buenos Aires on Friday calling for justice for Santiago Maldonado, after a body found in Chubut River was recognised to be that of the missing activist. One protester, Marta Berreta, said that «The Mapuche people were the first to say that Santiago Maldonado was taken by Gendarmeria» and that his body was found because «as they (Gendarmeria) did not know how to solve this... Еще situation, yesterday they planted the body in the river Chubut in a ridiculous place.» Maldonado, 27, was found in Chubut River in southern Argentina close to where he went missing on August 1. His disappearance was highly politicised and sparked a national outcry. The body was recognised by Sergio Maldonado, brother of Santiago, for his tattoos. An autopsy is underway to determine the cause of death.
