Argentine Navy spokesperson Enrique Balbi stated that investigations into a «hydro acoustic anomaly» that coincide with the last known whereabouts of the ARA San Juan submarine are now underway, when speaking to the press in Mar del Plata on Wednesday. The submarine's last known position was recorded at 7.30 am on Wednesday 15 November by satellite telephony. «We have to check it and corroborate... Еще it» added the spokesperson. When asked if the noise now under investigation is likely to be an explosion, the spokesperson said that it cannot be confirmed at this time. The ARA San Juan with a crew of 44 went missing on Wednesday 16, shortly after reporting an electrical malfunction. It was 480km (380 miles) off the coast, en route from Ushuaia to its base in Mar del Plata.
