Hundreds of women rights activists and pro-abortion demonstrators rallied in front of the National Congress in Buenos Aires on Wednesday. The rally was held after Argentine President Alberto Fernandez sent a draft law to Congress that aims at legalising abortion.
Demonstrators were spotted wearing green scarves and holding flares while chanting slogans and waving flags in support of the cause. A smaller counter-demonstration was also held nearby with police separating the two groups.
On Tuesday, Argentine President Alberto Fernandez sent a bill to Congress that aims at legalising abortions, which is now prohibited except for the case of rape or if a foetus poses danger to the woman's life.
