Argentina: Former minister jailed for corruption after historic decision to lift his immunity

Former minister and current lawmaker Julio De Vido was arrested on corruption charges in Buenos Aires on Wednesday, after an historic decision made by Congress to remove his parliamentary immunity. De Vido, who had been a minister under Argentine President Christina Fernadez's government (2007-2015), turned himself into the authorities before he was sent to Ezeiza jail, where is to be detained... Еще indefinitely. De Vido was accused of embezzling public funds intended for the Patagonian coal mine Rio Turbio. He has denied all charges.
