Argentina: First 'Stolperstein' outside of Europe laid to commemorate Nazi victims

The first 'Stolperstein' outside of Europe has been laid at the Pestalozzi German School in Buenos Aires, on Monday. The Pestalozzi School received, sheltered, and cared for many German-Jewish refugees during the Nazi era. The ceremony was attended by the German ambassador to Buenos Aires, Jurgen Christian Mertens, who said «the European installation is important because Argentines from many... Еще Jewish families from southern and northern Germany came to Argentina.» German for 'stumbling stone', Stolpersteins are small gold plaques laid across Europe since 1995, to commemorate the victims of the Nazi regime.
