Argentina: Fernandez vows to 'make the Argentina we deserve' after winning presidency

Centre-left opposition candidate Alberto Fernandez promised his supporters in Buenos Aires on Sunday «to rebuild the country» after securing just over 48 per cent of the vote in Argentina's presidential election, ousting current President Mauricio Macri. «We are going to make the Argentina we deserve because it is not true that we are condemned to this Argentina, we are going to enter the world... Еще with dignity, we are going to rebuild the country that our elders, our best heroes, our best men and our best women dreamed of,» Fernandez said to his cheering supporters. Former President and running mate Cristina Kirchner was also present on stage alongside Fernandez, and addressed Macri, asking him to «take all the measures that you must take to lighten the dramatic situation that is being experienced in the country's finances,» until handing over power to Fernandez on December 10. According to current results, Fernandez has securing 48.1 per cent of the vote, while Macri received 40 per cent. Macri has conceded defeat and congratulated Fernandez, and has reportedly asked him to visit the presidential palace on Monday to discuss the transition of power.
