Volunteers at a charity in Comodoro Rivadavia have built a scale model of the missing Argentine submarine ARA San Juan to honour its 44 crew members, Thursday. The idea to build the model first came out of meeting between members of the group who felt they had a duty honour the crew’s sacrifice. A group of friends and family members at the Agrupacion Isabel de Comodoro Rivadavia, a local... Еще social non-profit organisation, set about constructing the model from sheet metal in early January. The impressive homage to ARA San Juan measures 16 metres (52.5ft) long, five metres (16.4) high and three metres (9.8ft) wide. One of those who worked on the project, Carlos Rodriguez, said, “it is our way of paying homage through the work that you can see reflected here behind me. To the 44 patriots and their respective families.” The Agrupacion hopes the local authorities will put the model on display. The ARA San Juan went missing after its final communication on November 15, in a stretch of the Atlantic Ocean close to Comodoro Rivadavia.
