Argentina: Buenos Aires taxi driver protest demands ban on Uber

Buenos Aires was brought to a standstill by taxi drivers demanding a ban on Uber's ride sharing app, at the National Congress of Argentina on Tuesday. Representatives of taxi drivers in the city met with the President of the Chamber of Deputies Emilio Monzo and presented a request to have the app banned. «We want a law, a national law against the illegal transport of the Argentine Republic... Еще, and above all things against Uber,» said Jose Ibarra, Secretary General of the Taxi Drivers Union of Argentina. The taxi drivers had attempted to interrupt a pro-choice rally, which was also being held outside the nation’s congress building.
