12-year-old Cambia Karthikeyan shared her thoughts after scaling Mt Aconcagua accompanied by her father on Tuesday in Mendoza. The mountain, which is the highest in the southern and western hemispheres has a summit elevation of 6,960 metres (22,237 ft).
Karthikeyan said that despite difficulties thanks to the summit being very long her positive attitude paved the way for another successful... Еще mountain expedition.
«In India girls aren't encouraged to go out and play much. They are restricted more to the household work. By doing all this I want to spread a message that if girls are given an opportunity, we can do a lot of good work in the world» she said before adding that North America's Mount Denalior or Antarctica's Mount Vinson Massif would be next to tackle.
The original schedule was delayed as Karthikeyan and her father were forced to go to court to obtain permission for the minor to scale the mountain, despite already having conquered several high altitude Himalayan treks, including Roopkund (5,020 m), and Chandrasheela (4,000 m). She reached the Everest base camp (5,346 m) at just aged 10.
