Scuffles broke out in Algiers on Tuesday after police tried to stop thousands of anti-government protesters from reaching a central square. At least 14 people were arrested.
The incident reportedly marks the first time in eight months since the protests began when police prevented the movement of demonstrators.
The protests, dubbed the Smile Revolution, began on February 16, after 82-year-old... Еще Bouteflika announced he would be running for a fifth term in office. While he dropped his bid and ultimately resigned in April, the protests continued, demanding a complete re-newal of the ruling class.
