Scuffles broke out between opposition supporters and police in central Tirana, on Sunday, where scores protested the government's demolition of the crumbling Albanian National Theatre.
The construction of the theatre began in 1938 with the arrival of Italian fascist forces in Albania. Since its announcement two years ago, the proposed demolition has been at the heart of many heated political... Еще debates between the ruling party and the opposition.
The ruling party has already approved the construction of a modern theatre at the same spot. Meanwhile, opposition leader Lulzim Basha urged the people to try and topple Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama with a new wave of protests.
Footage shows heavy police presence and barricades surrounding the demolished theatre, with hundreds of people hurling insults and chanting against the police and Rama.
