Afghanistan: «War is bad». Orphans of fathers killed serving in security forces find refuge in Jalalabad

Children who lost their fathers to suicide bombings, improvised explosive device (IED) detonations or whilst working in the security forces are being housed at the Afghan Red Crescent Society orphanage in Jalalabad. Footage of them at the facility was captured on Tuesday. One child explained that her father worked as a police officer and was killed by militants. «Now we don't have a home we... Еще live here in the orphanage,» she said. Another child spoke of his father's death at the hands of Taliban members. «War is bad. If continues like this, more children will become orphans like me,» he warned. Over 250 children are said to be living at the orphanage in Nangarhar province, alongside their mothers who were also captured in the footage. Each family reportedly receives an allowance each month from Afghan Red Crescent and are housed for up to three years.
