Members of a household that was hit by a US led airstrike in Kabul recounted the moments of the attack, which killed one woman and injured a number of civilians, on Wednesday. Elder of the house Ghulam Rabani described how he had been praying in his house, when he saw American helicopters approaching. «I told my wife and children to save themselves», he said, before he heard «a big sound» which... Еще destroyed his house, wounding six people. Kabul local and taxi driver, Rabani questioned why his house was attacked, claiming that neither Taliban nor members of the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL) lived within his walls. «I am a taxi driver but Americans destroyed everything, they fired 60kg rocket at my children», he said. A second eyewitness, Mohammad Rahim, explained that military helicopters fired a rocket at his house, injuring «many children and women». The civilian casualties were reported after a US airstrike targeted Taliban fighters who attacked Kabul's airport earlier on Wednesday morning. The attack was carried out just hours after US Secretary of Defence James Mattis arrived in the Afghanistan capital on an official visit along with NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg. The Taliban and the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL) both claimed responsibility for the attack, with the Taliban announcing Mattis as their target. Mattis' visit comes after US President Donald Trump laid out a new strategy for Afghanistan with an increase in troop numbers.
