Taliban field commander Mullah Tofan confirmed that their representatives are going to attend the multilateral peace talks on Afghanistan in Moscow, speaking to RT in Pati Kot district of Nangarhar Province in an interview aired on Monday.
«We can confirm that we will attend the conference. We are waiting for the date and agenda, then we will decide what can be achieved from the conference... Еще,» Tofan said.
Regarding possible US-backed peace talks between the Taliban and the Afghan government, commander Tofan stated that «the Taliban doesn't want to negotiate with the Americans and has never wanted this,» adding that «the Taliban has never asked the Americans to cooperate against the Islamic State. The Americans are bombing us while we fight against ISIS.»
The international Moscow talks on Afghanistan were scheduled on September 4 but were postponed since the Kabul government reportedly needed time to work on a consolidated strategy for the peace building process.
New date as well as the agenda of the talks have not been announced yet.
