Smoke could be seen rising from the Inter-Continental Hotel in Kabul after a 12-hour siege in which at least 18 died in a terrorist attack. The Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul was under siege for 12 hours after armed gunmen stormed the hotel, taking hostages and shooting at security guards while making their way into the hotel. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, which began on Saturday evening, saying five gunmen wearing suicide vests targeted foreigners and Afghan officials. According to the Interior Ministry the four gunmen were all shot dead.
