Afghanistan: Families displaced from anti-IS military operations live in dire conditions

Afghan families displaced in eastern Afghanistan since June, due to ongoing joint US and Afghan military operations against the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS, ISIL) in Achin District, were living in dire conditions in footage captured in Ghazi Amanullah Khan Town, Wednesday. Families who had fled from conflict between IS and US-Afghani military were living in make-shift... Еще shelters. Many of the villagers' homes had been destroyed in the fighting. «We faced many kinds of issues there, war and air bombardments were the reasons why we left everything, for example our house, cows, chickens, and household items. Now we live here in a temporary shelter without any kind of household items,» said one displaced woman. The families are forced to travel long distances to collect water. «Here there are problems of water supply. We fetch the water from a very far distance,» said one child. In April, the US dropped its largest non-nuclear bomb ever deployed in combat in Afghanistan's Achin district. American and Afghan military operations have been ongoing in the region since then. Local civilians have been forced to flee to eastern parts of the country.
