At least 14 people were killed, including two mothers along with their newly born babies, after gunmen attacked a maternity ward in Kabul on Tuesday.
Locals and military officials carried bodies out from the scene of the attack, where at least three assailants entered disguised in police uniforms according to officials.
«Unfortunately, at least 13 persons including hospital employees, doctors... Еще, nurses and even newborn babies were killed and at least 15 others were wounded,» said Tariq Arian, a spokesperson for the Interior Ministry.
Armed attackers apparently set of explosions at the scene and opened fire on patients and staff inside the hospital, before they were engaged by military personnel in a stand-off.
The attack of is one of two to hit the country in the same day. The other attack, a suicide bombing, took place at a funeral in nearby Nangarhar province.
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani ordered the Afghan military to resume offensive operations against the Taliban in response to the attacks, although no group has yet claimed responsibility, with the Taliban denying involvement in the Nangarhar bombing.
