Ecuadorian police held an official retirement ceremony for 61 police dogs in Quito on Wednesday, thanking their canine colleagues for their tireless effort in sniffing out illegal drugs. Ivan Ayala, chief of the Centre of Canine Training, praised the dogs’ nine years of service, adding, «These are not objects that we're throwing away, or work tools: these are great police officers that are... Еще leaving today, true heroes.» The majority of the dogs — Labradors, German shepherds and Golden Retrievers — will find a new home with their former trainers. However, some carefully selected civilians will also take on the role. Having worked like dogs their entire lives, they can now enjoy a quiet retirement. Woof woof!
