-20°! Hundreds take ice-cold plunge at Harbin swimming competition

A total of 639 ice swimmers from 56 teams participated in the annual International Ice Swimming competition in Harbin on Saturday, dipping into cold water below -20° Celsius. The competition took place in a 25 metre long (82 feet) pool that was carved out of the frozen Songhua River. The teams, who were comprised from contestants from Russia, the US and all across China, were categorised by... Еще age and gender. They competed in breaststroke and freestyle. «It's healthy. I'm 73 years old, but I'm swimming every day. I live in Nahodka, where the sea is very salty and very cold. Here it's actually pretty good. We love Harbin,» said an ice-swimmer from Russia.
